Being Insurance exists to explain insurance clearly and honestly. This Editorial Policy sets out how our content is researched, written, checked and corrected, so readers know what standards sit behind every page.
Who writes and reviews our content
Our pages are written and reviewed by our editor, Tahir Abbas, and the Being Insurance editorial team. Pages carry a byline and a “last updated” date so readers can see who is responsible for the content and how current it is.
Our sources
We research from primary and authoritative sources wherever possible, including:
- Insurance regulators and official bodies, such as the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and state insurance departments.
- Industry data published by recognised associations, such as the North American Pet Health Insurance Association (NAPHIA) State of the Industry report for pet insurance.
- Insurers’ own published policy documents and product pages for product details.
Where a statistic appears on this site, we attribute it to its source and the period it covers. Figures we cannot verify are presented only as clearly labelled illustrative examples, never as facts.
Accuracy and updates
Insurance products and prices change often. We review and update our pages when products, prices or rules change, and the “last updated” date on each page reflects the most recent review. If we find an error, we correct it promptly.
Independence and money
Being Insurance may earn a commission or referral fee when readers follow a link from this site and buy from a provider. Commercial relationships never buy coverage, rankings or favourable wording: products are included and described based on their relevance and features, and paid placements, where they exist, are labelled as such. This policy works alongside the commission disclosure shown across the site.
Comparisons
Our comparison pages are built from publicly available product information at the time of writing. They explain differences in cover, limits and exclusions so readers can shortlist products — they are not personal recommendations, and the right choice depends on the reader’s own circumstances and the insurer’s full policy wording.
Corrections
We take accuracy seriously. If you believe something on this site is wrong or out of date, please tell us through our Contact page. We will check the claim against our sources, correct the page if needed, and refresh its “last updated” date.
